About Liz Barnez

I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, where I studied psychology at the University of New Orleans. I moved to Northern Colorado in the late 80s, and I have called this beautiful place home for over 35 years. In that time, I have established deep roots in this vibrant and active community.

 

I began my real estate career in 2017 at The Group Real Estate, Inc. I then moved to REMAX Advanced for one year before deciding to work as an Independent Broker/Liz Barnez NAR Member. I have gained amazing insight and diverse experience through the years and am excited to bring my experience and move forward by joining forces with West & Main. My philosophy as a broker has always been guided by the principles of service to my community. And Northern Colorado is a community I know well and love.

 

Traversing the tricky landscape of selling and buying houses can feel daunting, and I hope to make that process easy, filled with wonder, always educational, and yes, fun!

 

My focus is on you, the buyer and seller, getting to know you as people and gaining a clear vision of what you want and need in the transaction. I am on your team to advise, coach, comfort, and provide knowledge and clear direction for each transaction. I am curious to know you, hear your unique story, and personalize each experience. Buying and selling your home is personal and it’s one of the biggest decisions you will make. My goal is to understand you and your needs fully and to help you navigate the challenges of this decision.

 

I will collaborate with you, manage the tough negotiations to get you to your desired outcome, and strive to make all interactions and communication very clear, open, and kind.

 

For the last 40 years, I have been a touring and performing songwriter. I have produced four albums and am working on my fifth, and will continue to write and perform music for the rest of my life. Over the years, I have been heavily involved in the local music community. I was part of the Bohemian Foundation Music Department and FoCoMA (Fort Collins Musician Association), where I served on the Board of Directors, helped to produce live music events, festivals, and advancement and educational opportunities for musicians.

 

I helped create and launch The Armory Music Listening Venue and assisted with the redesign and redevelopment of Old Town Square in Fort Collins as it relates to live music performances. I am passionate about contributing to the local music community and enjoy playing music for fundraising events. My focus is on empowering women and children, encouraging education with a focus on music and the arts, and social equality.

 

I am also passionate about cooking and studied Culinary Arts at the Cook Street School of Culinary Arts in Denver, CO. I also attended an immersion program in Parma, Italy at the Academia Barilla. I have cooked for intimate private parties and taught cooking classes at The Cooking Studio in Fort Collins, and I love to cook for friends and family!

 

I am married to my best friend, Lori, and we have two grown children, Hale and Rob. We have three dogs, Ruthie (a lab heeler mix) and her mom, Yip (a red heeler), and newest to the pack is Liza Jane, a Golden Retriever mix. When I am not helping clients find their dream home, you can find me attending or performing at live music concerts, cooking, walking our dogs, doing yoga, tending to our garden, cheering on the New Orleans Saints, watching old classic movies, hiking in the Rockies, or remodeling houses.
